The Great Social Enterprise Pitch: Behind the Biking Lancaster Idea

bikesChris Caldwell is a long-time resident of Lancaster, PA, Chris has spent a lot of time using a bike to get around the city and he passionately sees bicycling as an alternative transportation option.

With the goal of supporting and helping the bicycle movement in a concrete way, Chris started to look at the community bike shop model and then came of with the idea of implementing that model in Lancaster with The Common Wheel: A Community Bike Center. Common Wheel will work to encourage bicycling in Lancaster city through offering the “Earn a Bike” program for children hoping to get a bicycle, as well as a location for bike education and repairs. Ultimately, Common Wheel’s mission is to get as making people as possible riding bikes.
